High-Throughput Mass Spectrometry in Drug Discovery Apply mass
spectrometry to every phase of new drug discovery with this
cutting-edge guide Mass spectrometry is a technique that identifies
and characterizes compounds based on their mass — the fundamental
molecular characteristic. It has become an invaluable analytical
tool in various disciplines, industries, and research fields. It
has become particularly central to new drug discovery and
development, which broadly deploys mass spectrometry at every
phase. The pharmaceutical industry has become one of the main
drivers of technological development in mass spectrometry.
High-Throughput Mass Spectrometry in Drug Discovery offers a
comprehensive introduction to mass spectrometry and its
applications in pharmaceutical discovery. It covers the
foundational principles and science of mass spectrometry before
moving to specific experimental methods and their applications at
various stages of drug discovery. Its thorough treatment and
detailed guidance make it an invaluable tool for pharmaceutical
research and development. High-Throughput Mass Spectrometry in Drug
Discovery readers will also find: Detailed analysis of techniques,
including label-free screening, synthetic reaction optimization,
and more An authorial team with extensive combined experience in
research and industrial applications Technical strategies with the
potential to accelerate quantitative bioanalysis in drug discovery
High-Throughput Mass Spectrometry in Drug Discovery is essential
for analytical, bioanalytical, and medicinal chemists working in
the pharmaceutical industry and for any researchers and graduate
students interested in drug discovery and development.
The book offers an in-depth research of the economic situations
along the Belt and Road and the initiative's cooperation prospects,
opportunities and challenges. It draws on economic data, including
those on trade, investment, infrastructure, urban distribution,
industrial cooperation, financial integration and revision of
historical and political background. The Belt and Road initiative
(BRI) comes from not only the ancient Silk Road, but also a
long-term international cooperation between China and relevant
countries. As a China-led initiative, the BRI is built upon China's
international vision according to its development process.
Therefore, the book also discusses how China balances its own
development process among different domestic regions, and how the
Initiative fits into the changes of global economic system and
brings positive change for developing and developed economies
involved, on the long haul. Furthermore, this book aims to find out
precise direction of the initiative in order to assess appropriate
implication on development under current globalization and provide
valuable experience for future economic synergetic development by
reviewing the past cooperative experience as references for
policy-making and prospective engagementIn terms of methodology,
analyses were conducted applying multi-methods with best available
evidence to enrich the understanding of the potential of the BRI in
terms of socio-economic impact on cooperation and difference and
similarities of economic, cultural characteristics and political
system among countries.
This book mainly addresses China's Belt and Road Initiative in
terms of the connectivity industrial and spatial development, as
well as current world's economic and trade pattern under such
synergy development, and focuses on the function and mechanism of
industry and geography coordination. Although current research on
the value circulation between China and developed economies is
relatively adequate, the book focuses on the value circulation
between the countries and regions, especially the developing
economies. China and other developing countries tie strongly with
the production value circulation. The coordination industrial and
spatial development in the global value cycle is also the
cornerstone of long-term stabilization and sustainable development
in China. Therefore, this book provides the theoretical and
empirical research on Belt and Road from the perspectives on
industrial and spatial synergy. This book proposes several
questions: Any inherent inlay between industrial and geographic
allocation, i.e., is there any possibility for close integration?
This book analyzes the necessity of coordinated development of
industry and space perspective of production division. Secondly,
from the perspective of historical evolution and current situation,
it analyzes the relationship among industry, economic growth and
fluctuation and compares realizing paths of synergy of industrial
and spatial development. It contains the industry and spatial
diffusion mechanism and the effect of synergy development.
Moreover, the corresponding policy implication is provided for
sustainable development through the Belt and Road Initiative.
This book systemically presents the latest research on renal
fibrosis, covering all the major topics in the field, including the
possible mechanisms, biomarkers, and strategies for prevention and
treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Due to its high
prevalence, CKD represents a huge global economic and social
burden. Irrespective of the initial causes, CKD progresses to end
stage kidney disease (ESKD) due to renal fibrosis, which is
characterized by glomerulosclerosis, tubule atrophy and atresia,
and the excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) in the
kidney. Unfortunately, an estimated 1%-2% of the adult population
living with CKD will need renal replacement therapy at some point
as a result of ESKD. As such, strategies for preventing or slowing
CKD progression to ESKD are of utmost importance, and studies
aiming to understand the mechanisms of renal fibrosis have been the
focus of intensive research. Recently, novel insights into the
pathophysiological processes have furthered our understanding of
the pathogenesis of renal fibrosis, and more importantly, promoted
studies on the early diagnosis and treatment of CKD. This book
draws lessons from the extensive, state-of-the-art research in this
field, elaborating the new theories and new techniques to offer
readers a detailed and comprehensive understanding of renal
fibrosis and as well as inspiration for future research directions.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 25th
Australasian Conference on Information Security and Privacy, ACISP
2020, held in Perth, WA, Australia, in November 2020*. The 31
revised full papers and 5 short papers presented were carefully
revised and selected from 151 submissions. The papers present and
discuss the latest research, trends, breakthroughs, and challenges
in the domain of information security, privacy and cybersecurity on
a variety of topics such as post-quantum cryptography; symmetric
cipher; signature; network security and blockchain; cryptographic
primitives; mathematical foundation; machine learning security,
among others. *The conference was held virtually due to COVID-19
pandemic.
